Stay with Life
Hello Friend, I hope your day and your summer are all you want them to be. Last month my friend Robert Frey passed away suddenly through a strange set of circumstances. This took me by surprise, since Robert was healthy, happy, and very much living from his heart. For several days I felt disturbed by the thoughts of his death, trying to figure out how this could have happened. It made no sense. On the summer solstice I felt like going to a cliff overlooking the ocean to meditate on the sunset. In my meditation I asked for some guidance to help me understand this event. When I opened my eyes I saw a large brown frigate bird gracefully coasting on the thermals just offshore. At that moment a knowing came to me, as if a voice was saying, "Behold the beauty and magnificence of life. Stay focused on this. Don't be distracted by thoughts of death. There is only life." Immediately I felt a sense of peace and relief. I knew that Robert was okay, and my job was to look for evidence of the presence of good, God, and love. Death is not my department, nor yours. A few days later I received this email from a friend of Robert's: The day he left his body, I took a walk with his sweetheart, who was with him through his ordeal. We walked to a cliff and saw a frigate bird in the distance sailing the thermals. It was so smooth, peaceful, and easeful. Of course I thought of Robert as I watched it slowly disappear from sight. Just then a little rainbow appeared just behind the bird. I knew it was Robert crossing the rainbow bridge. How strange and wonderful that we both received the same message at different times and places through a frigate bird! This was certainly no coincidence. I am clear that this was guidance from a Higher Power bringing us an important lesson. If you have lost a loved one, or fear doing so, I hope this story will bring you comfort. You and your loved one are in the hands of a Great Spirit that knows only life. Those who leave us physically, do not leave us spiritually. They remain very much with us, not out of range at all. They want us not to become preoccupied with death, but in the awareness and appreciation of life. Alan . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . What's Up. . . (click on image for more info) is finding its way into lots of hands; some of our corporate friends are buying by the dozen and sharing with co-workers and employees. . . Dee and I took a trip to Lake Powell with our friends Barry and Heather.
Barry and I took off in a speedboat one morning to get some supplies, got caught in a windstorm, and wandered around the huge lake (2000 miles of shoreline) for five hours in huge waves trying to find the ladies. It was the most fun of the whole trip! ("Life is a daring adventure, or nothing."). . .Our 2004 Personal Mentorship gang met in Las Vegas just for fun. I wish we had a videotape of our group riding up and down The Strip talking about creating reality. When was the last time anyone had that conversation on that street?. . .I'll be cruising the east coast in September: Maine, New York, and Virginia. . . then on the Ft. Worth. Heart to Heart Q & A: One of my favorite features of my new web site is the "Ask Alan" page where you can ask personal questions about life directions, and I can offer you a perspective. These questions have been so meaningful and universal that I will post one in each newsletter. I am in a relationship with a man that has been going on for about 6 years and we have an 11-month-old baby. He is a good man and we are happy except for one issue which bothers me: cyber sex, talking to other women sexually. He enjoys it and although he says he has stopped I don't trust that he has and have good reason not to believe him.We have a great sex life and I am very open minded in this area. I have tried to come to a peace with myself that I can leave the relationship, or stay as long as nothing physical is going on. I sometimes can't deal too well with it and start searching for dirt on him, wasting a lot of my time on something that makes me miserable. I know society has placed a lot of boundaries on us as far as right and wrong and I am trying to see this as something he enjoys instead of something he is doing to me.
